The Heartland Service Plan is a vehicle service plan licensed with the State of Oklahoma Insurance Department. It covers major components of the vehicle plus includes four oil changes and service checks to help you keep your car, truck or SUV in good running condition.
Many if not all of our competitors’ plans are not licensed by the State Insurance Department and as a result may not be in compliance with state law. It looks to us like they either aren’t aware of the requirement for a service plan to be licensed or they are trying to avoid the licensing requirement by claiming their service plan or warranty is “free”. But then they charge you a deductible if you need to use it. The plan isn’t “free” if you have to pay something to use it, and if it isn’t really, truly “free” then the plan should be licensed.
It gets old competing with people who cut corners, say one thing and do another and don’t comply with the law. They give the industry a bad name and they can make life miserable for consumers. In a way it is unfair that they get away with it.
